If we could solve our gender differences in our generation today, the world would be a more peaceful place to live, correct? If men and women could walk side-by-side together in our world instead of fighting each other over a lot of different issues, we might be able to provide a better world for our children. How can we do this though? Men are from Mars, women are from Venus, or so the story goes… How can someone from one sexual orientation really understand the other? Perhaps we don’t have to as much as we think we do. I suggest that if we can find the root of the problem, perhaps we can also find a workable solution. FUNCTION & GENDER…
I believe that if we can catch a glimpse of where we are headed, perhaps we can gain a better understanding of the path we need to walk, and that to walk together. In these bodies of flesh, we have certain desires and drives that are different concerning gender. However, in our eternal state in the soul which doesn’t age, we are neither male nor female. Jesus referred to this when he was rebuking the Sadducees as they were trying to trip Him up.
Mark 12: 24-25, “Jesus said to them, Is not this where you wander out of the way and go wrong, because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God? 25Â For when they arise from among the dead, [men] do not marry nor are [women] given in marriage, but are like the angels in heaven.” AMPÂ The same story is in Matthew 22:30 & Luke 20:35.
Now, if we believe the Bible and the words of Jesus, then we know that sometime in our future we are going to be able to walk out of this battle of the sexes. However, for the time being, perhaps we can find a way to walk it here on the earth in peace.
For years now, the Lord has been talking to me about function and gender. When I saw things in this perspective, a greater peace came into my life and competition almost ceased. I am not only talking between man and woman, but also between man and man. I began to understand what He was talking about in a greater measure as I began to meditate more and more on Psalm 139.
Psalm 139:14-17, “I will confess and praise You for You are fearful and wonderful and for the awful wonder of my birth! Wonderful are Your works, and that my inner self knows right well. 15Â My frame was not hidden from You when I was being formed in secret [and] intricately and curiously wrought [as if embroidered with various colors] in the depths of the earth [a region of darkness and mystery]. 16Â Your eyes saw my unformed substance, and in Your book all the days [of my life] were written before ever they took shape, when as yet there was none of them. 17Â How precious and weighty also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them!” AMP
Here is where my life becomes personal, on a one-on-one basis with the King of kings, with the Ancient of Days, with my real Father who loves me more than I can ever imagine, that He would take so much care to create a wonderful destiny for me and then want to help me walk it out and be totally fulfilled. This is too wonderful to get a grasp on.
Now that I know this, I know that I have a personal destiny. No one else can fulfill it or take it away from me. I can try to walk in someone else’s destiny, but how miserable would I be? I could try to blame someone else for not being able to do what is written about me, but they don’t have any say over the matter. My ability to walk out MY DESTINY lies alone in the choices I make and the power and will of MY Heavenly Father. He wrote it and He will help me fulfill it. Jesus is the AUTHOR and FINISHER/PERFECTER of our faith. Hebrews 12:2, “Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith [giving the first incentive for our belief] and is also its Finisher [bringing it to maturity and perfection].” AMP Not only does He begin it, but He also finishes it.
Since I now know that it is up to me as to whether I run MY own race or not and up to HIM to help me do it, then no one else can take that away from me. It is MY OWN CHOICE to gain all He has for me in my life or MY OWN CHOICE to not walk in it at all. PERIOD! That’s it. That’s the bottom line. I alone will stand before Him on that day in eternity and will give account for all I did and/or didn’t do. Revelation 20:12-13.
Now, if I have a problem with others, regardless of gender, then my problem is now with and possibly against Him. Why did You make me this way? Why did You place me here on this earth and with these particular parents. Why did You put me here in this particular moment in history? Why? Why? Why?
If we only look with our natural eyes, we will miss it all and most likely live our lives in defeat. In order to truly live and experience all He really has waiting for us, we have to come higher. First of all, we have to believe that He really loves us and wants the best for us no matter how life has turned out so far. We need to establish a relationship with Him if we are ever going to find out.
Men and women each have a particular function on this earth. Their bodies and emotional makeup are very different from each other. Neither is better in the Lord’s eyes, rather our makeup is more about function and purpose than our identity or approval by Him. In His infinite wisdom, he created us in a way to multiply. In this way, He also made it possible for those who don’t know Him or want anything to do with Him, to still carry out His purpose of populating the earth from generation to generation. Within these human affections and desires, He also created a way for us to walk in our own individual destinies in love for one another and in marriage, to enjoy certain pleasures in intimacy.
From a very human standpoint, let’s look at a business and the workers necessary to make it successful. In an IDEAL company, each worker is compensated for their skills and production, their FUNCTION within the company. Promotion comes with opportunity, skill level and a good track record if this company is going to perform at its peak ability and be successful. Whether or not the individuals are male or female or who they know or are friends with, will not make a difference in this business. It is about a well functioning group of people focusing on a particular goal and achieving it.
Father has a plan for His Kingdom. It is irrelevant as to who is male or female except in regards to function. He has placed everyone in each generation in their rightful places to see His purposes fulfilled, as well as to see us live our lives to the fullest. When He sees us, He doesn’t see the gender differences. He see us from His perspective, neither male nor female.
The Jezebel and Ahab spirits rule and reign within a people who compete for places of position that are not theirs. Each place in the Lord’s Kingdom is a place of function, not position. None are higher or above another. We are all called to walk together and function together as one body, with Christ Jesus as the head. If He is not the head, then it is not His body, rather it is some perverted and disjointed fleshly copy and it will fail miserably. That which He is joining together will function in the way He desires. It is without spot or blemish because it is His righteousness that covers it. We choose which one we want to be a part of building, the flesh version which is birthed in and of Babylon, or the Kingdom version which is of grace and truth.
I will not compete against others for what He has already given to me. I simply agree with Him and take my place. No one else can walk in it, nor take it from me. As I listen to His voice and obey, He establishes His rule in my life and joins me with those who He is joining together. It is a simple life, peaceful, loving, filled with grace, mercy and joy. This is my place and it is good. What place do you want to find and function in? FUNCTION & GENDER…
